Dear Colleagues,
I greet you with respect and love on behalf of the TURKRAD 2022, 43rd National Radiology Congress Scientific Committee, which will be organized by Turkish Society of Radiology.
Even though we say we got used to it, for more than two years, we are living in pandemic conditions that we count the days to get rid of. The pandemic has affected and continues to affect our world, our country and the individuals in every aspect. The national congress, which was held online in 2020, could only be held face-to-face last year. In addition to learning to live with Covid-19, the spread of vaccine applications has great contributions to this development. Although some of us were missing, not all of our plans came true, even if it was cautious and a little distant, we had the happiness of meeting after many years; we have soundly and successfully completed TURKRAD 2021. We refreshed our knowledge, shared our experiences, discussed our problems and even we couldn’t hug, we found the opportunity to socialize that we longed for. With the strength and courage we gained from last year, TURKRAD 2022 will be similar to the meetings we experienced in the past, which we remember happily and miss and maybe we hope to experience it as a more successful, enthusiastic and joyful union. We decided the main topic of our congress as “Aging and Degenerative Processes”, which we thought we had not dealt with before and has become an important area of interest and occupation with its ever-expanding life spans. We decided that the collateral topic should be “Transplantation”, which is becoming widespread and enriching day by day and we encounter examples even if it is not applied in our institutions, and which we have to evaluate before/after.
Our second collateral topic candidate in the scientific committee was "Artificial Intelligence". Considering that this issue should be discussed much more comprehensively, we found it appropriate to consider it as a panel, as in the COVID 19 session last year. We also decided to continue the “60 minutes – 30 cases” sessions, which we know to be much liked.
In the main program, besides the sessions covering every sub-branch of radiology, for this year we will also have collaborations where we apply face-to-face training models. Together with the experts of the subject, we are planning workshops where we can refresh our knowledge through case examples. Of course, as always, we will have courses if the conditions allow. I would like to thank in advance to our distinguished professors who are experienced in their fields, who will attend our congress as speakers and who will not withhold their attendance and contributions to our Congress.
Abstracts are indispensable for our congress. We are especially looking forward for oral and poster presentations by our young colleagues, in which they reflect their work. We fully believe that the scientific content of our Congress will be increased with this method.
Like every year, sessions where we will talk and share medical error cases will be also in the program this year. Likewise, our movie reading session, which is one of our surprise sessions and attracts a lot of attention, will spice up our evening. Beyond that, we will also have entertaining programs where we can relieve our tiredness between and after intense scientific sessions.
I would like to express my endless gratitude to the Scientific Committee of the Congress, which I am very happy to work with, and to the Board of the Turkish Society of Radiology, who supports us in every way. With the hope to meet at the 43rd National Radiology Congress TURKRAD 2022, in the last hot days of 2022, at the beginning of November, stay wholeheartedly.
Prof. Dr. Can Zafer Karaman
